WHY DO WE HATE IT SO MUCH?!

Me again. Well since my last post, Ive done a lot of research and the country that seems to despise this veil the most seems to be the one and only FRANCE! So in this post, I'd like you to take a trip with me to the world of FRANCE!!!

In case you dont know, this is a picture of the French Parliament. It was here that the decision was made to ban the wearing of the veil in public. This law will be enforced from Spring 2011! It has of course caused great uproar in the country amongst its increasing Muslim population. We take a look at the reasons for this ban....


Well when the parliament condemned the veil in May early this year, they labelled it as  "an affront to the nation's values of dignity and equality".
The French President described the veil as as oppressive to women and not welcome in France.
The parliament believe that the ban could be justified for security reasons and to combat fraud.


Muslims have seen this as an attack on their faith but before the bill was approved, Justice Minister Michele Alliot-Marie declared that
  

"This is not about security or religion, but respecting our republican principles...France, land of secularism, guarantees respect for all religions (but) hiding the face under a face-covering veil is against public social order, whether it is forced or voluntary"

Though Muslims see this as an attack on them, the government emphasise that this has nothing to do with religion. The guardian stated that 'France's ban on the Islamic veil has little to do with female emancipation'

Ive heard people say they find it strange how women could walk around with their faces covered. And they themselves found it strange being around such women. I personally dont hate it, I do respect people who decide to wear it out of their own will, but we have to be realistic, there are women out their who are being FORCED to wear it!

I dont think anyone out there HATES people who wear the veil, but there are some good reasons out there, of why the veil should not be allowed, at least in certain places!

Do you remember a few years ago, the teacher of a junior school, who was suspended for not removing her veil in the class??! Well in that case, she was teaching children English language! Very young children, learn by lip reading and watching the shape of the mouth, while the teacher pronounces the letters. Now how are children supposed to learn by just listening to the teacher and not being able to see her mouth?! This is just one example of where I believe the veil should have been removed....

SO WHAT IS THIS VEIL & WHY??!!

Well put simply, its just a piece of cloth that women wear to cover their faces. BUT people seem to find the need to find the most complicated definition of the veil!!! Still dont get what it is?! Heres a video if you're interested, shows you lots of different women wearing the veil!

Ok so now you know what it is, WHY do they wear it?! Does the Qur'an say a woman has to wear it?! Well interestingly the Qur'an doesnt actually refer to any clothing! It just talks of it as a a spatial curtain that divides or provides privacy!!! When we see WHERE it actually comes from, well it 'goes back to tribal nomadic societies living in the Arabian desert and other dusty and dry areas before Islam began, in order to provide protection against dust and sand!'


A lot of women claim they choose to wear it because it is a mustahab act - meaning to seek the love of God. HOWEVER there are some Muslims who see as covering the face as an obligatory act, because the face is seen as awrah ie a part of the body, which women must cover from unrelated men!
